Types of Online Classrooms

Online classrooms are frequently categorized into three types; enhanced, hybrid, and fully online. An enhanced course would include course-related materials. This information is typically for the students viewing purpose only and is not a requirement. The hybrid course provides online activities as a means for reducing seat time. This does not reduce the students study requirement or the rigor of the class.
The last type, fully online courses, students are not required to come to the campus. The faculty and student may never meet face-to-face. If they meet, in order to be considered fully online, there so be a maximum of three meeting. In a fully online course all requirements for reading, discussion, homework, and assessments are conducted online.

The Online Classroom and Community

The members of your online course would be considered members of your online classroom. It consists of you, your fellow classmates, and your instructor. There may be a teacher assistant, peer tutor, or course assistant. The members of your online classroom include anyone who is your first line of contact for the course.
Even though the online classroom consist of a broad range of people; the online community is broader. This includes all of the people previously named as well as other resources that are available to assist you. Your college advisor, program chair, librarian as well as people on the world wide web are all part of your online community. Any of these people can prove to be very beneficial to you during the process of completing an online course.

Discovery for the Online Learner

As an online learner, it is important to know thyself. Please do not reflect upon thyself based upon past experiences. You should reflect upon all aspects of your life. As a single mother of two, I find an online course to be very convenient; however, there are times I long for the social setting offered by other adults with common interests.

Your motivation level, attention level, and reading comprehension skills are all things that should be reflected upon. When considering these things you should reflect upon your life before adding the course, then fathom the time in which your schedule could accommodate an online course.

Becoming an Online Learner

In today's world there are many reasons a person desires to take an online course. The number one reason I apt to complete this course online is because the travel distance of nearly 100 miles took time, money, and more commitment if taken in the traditional classroom. However, an an online learner time and commitment is still a key component to class success.
As an online learner other things should be considered before pursuing this option. The time you set aside for the course should be consistent, even though you have the power to control the flexibility of actual times. Also you must ensure you possess the correct technical equipment and skills to complete requirements for the course.
